Copper Repoussé
In keeping with its reputation for refined taste, timeless classics and exotic materials, McGuire brings exquisite designs to lighting. This collection of table and floor lamps is hand-crafted of copper repoussé -- a hammering technique, also known as "chasing," used to create decorative relief in metal. The artistry of McGuire's designs created by Robert Kuo represents sublime examples of this craft.

Each lamp is a study of pattern and figures engraved or embossed in copper using a chasing chisel or chasing hammer. This technique, often used to create high-end jewelry, results in textures that range from subtle to intricate.

The collection includes generously scaled bases influenced by Chinese Han Dynasty ritual vessels, as well as several petite and architectural and yet decidedly organic forms.

Each lamp is hand-finished with one of four distinct options: a warm antique copper; a dramatic black copper; a sophisticated silver plate; or a brilliant 24K gold plate. Each style is paired with either a natural ivory linen shade or a black lacquered parchment shade especially designed to balance the form of the lamp. As a finishing touch, each lamp is surmounted by a distinct repoussé finial that takes its lead from the shape and pattern of the base.
